The Position

We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to direct two school construction projects in Nanaimo, BC. This is a full-time position, estimated to start in February 2025. The successful candidate will manage all on-site activities, with the goal of completing these projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Compensation

• Competitive salary based on experience, ranging from $90,000 to $120,000 annually (prorated for the duration of the project).

• Business mileage between job sites will be reimbursed at the federal rate of 72 cents per kilometre for the first 5,000 kilometres driven, and 66 cents for each additional kilometre.

• Eligible Benefits include extended health care insurance, dental and other.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations on the construction site, including scheduling and coordination of trades, suppliers, and equipment.

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and relevant building codes.

• Monitor progress and quality of work, addressing issues as they arise to prevent delays or rework.

• Conduct site meetings and communicate regularly with project managers, architects, and stakeholders.

• Manage site documentation, including daily logs, safety reports, and progress updates.

• Lead and motivate site personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

• Ensure effective problem-solving to maintain smooth workflow and resolve conflicts.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Superintendent, preferably on commercial or institutional construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of construction practices, safety regulations, and building codes in British Columbia.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to schedule and supervise trades and manage time effectively and efficiently.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Proficiency, or previous experience using project management software and tools is an asset.

• Valid driver’s license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make rational decisions under pressure.

• Minimum Level 1 First Aid.

• Must have a valid BC driver’s license in good standing and own personal vehicle.
