The Position

As a Civil Engineer with On Point, you will play a vital role in the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects. Working closely with senior management and a multidisciplinary team, you will take on project management responsibilities while contributing your technical expertise to ensure projects meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. You will also mentor junior staff and ensure the quality and integrity of all deliverables. We are seeking two Civil Engineers to join our growing team in Victoria and Nanaimo, BC.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary based on experience, ranging from $90,000. – $110,000. annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to design and execute infrastructure projects, including earthworks, grading, roads, drainage systems, and utilities, while meeting schedules, budgets, and regulatory standards.

  • Prepare, review, and seal detailed technical drawings, design briefs, reports, specifications, procurement documents, and proposals for submission to clients and approving agencies.

  • Lead project and construction management tasks, including coordinating schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely completion of milestones.

  • Ensure designs comply with municipal, provincial, and federal codes, standards, and regulations to meet legal and public safety requirements.

  • Utilize design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create and modify plans and simulations.

  • Oversee contract administration, including preparing MMCD and CCDC contract documents, managing contracts, and conducting field inspections during construction.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and pursue ongoing professional development.

  • Mentor Engineers-in-Training and technologists, fostering their growth by guiding them in technical tasks, problem-solving, and professional development.

  • Perform geometric design and Civil 3D modeling for municipal, provincial, and federal road and highway projects, ranging from urban streets to major highways.

  • Instill strong ethical principles, emphasizing honesty, transparency, and responsibility, particularly concerning public safety and project integrity.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, through reports, presentations, and technical documentation.

  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designers, Drafters, and junior staff on collaborative projects.

  • Ensure the quality assurance of all deliverables by conducting thorough reviews and implementing best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with EGBC with a solid technical foundation with at least 5 years of experience in municipal, transportation, or land development engineering.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, collaborating with stakeholders, and presenting findings.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
