The Position
We’re seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) or Civil Technologist to join our growing team in Nanaimo, BC, and an EIT or Civil Technologist to join our team in Victoria, BC. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of infrastructure projects. Under the guidance of licensed engineers, you will:

Assist in the design, analysis, and preparation of civil engineering plans and reports.

Conduct site assessments, collect data, and support field investigations.

Prepare technical documents, including design calculations, drawings, and regulatory submissions.

Ensure projects adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Contribute to the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects such as roads, utilities, and municipal developments.

Compensation

Salary: Competitive, based on experience, ranging from $60,000 to $90,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the development and design of civil engineering projects, including earthworks, grading, roads, drainage systems, and utilities, in collaboration with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary teams.

Prepare comprehensive technical design briefs, reports, specifications, and documentation for submission to clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

Coordinate and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure tasks and milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with municipal, provincial, and federal engineering codes, standards, and regulations, with a focus on safety and quality assurance.

Utilize advanced design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create, review, and refine detailed plans, simulations, and construction drawings.

Manage contract administration, including preparing MMCD and CCDC contract documents, overseeing contract execution, and performing inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to contribute to innovative and efficient engineering solutions.

Maintain a thorough understanding of On Point’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) and ensure all project activities align with organizational standards.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members while supporting engineers and team leads in delivering exceptional results.
Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Eligible or current registration as an EIT with EGBC or as a technologist with ASTTBC.

Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office. Solid understanding of municipal, transportation, or land development engineering principles.

Communication: Strong written and verbal skills for preparing reports and collaborating with clients and stakeholders.

Work Ethic: Self-starter, able to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a team environment.

Other: Valid BC driver’s license.
