The Position

We are seeking a motivated Intermediate / Senior Civil Technologist to join our growing team in either Nanaimo or Victoria. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a collaborative and supportive environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals on the design, analysis, and implementation of infrastructure projects.

Compensation

• Salary: Competitive, based on experience, ranging from $70,000 to $100,000 annually.

• Benefits: Extended health, dental, and additional benefits.

• Reimbursement: Business mileage between job sites will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Drafting: Assist in the design and development of civil engineering projects, including earthworks, grading, roads, drainage systems, and utilities, using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other software.

• Technical Documentation: Prepare design briefs, reports, specifications, calculations, and regulatory submissions for clients and authorities.

• Project Coordination: Oversee schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure tasks and milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

• Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure projects adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations, maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

• Contract Administration: Prepare and manage MMCD and CCDC contract documents, oversee contract execution, and perform inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.

• Site Work: Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and data collection to support project planning and execution.

• Mentorship & Leadership: Guide junior technologists, supporting their technical development and professional growth.

• Practice Management: Maintain a thorough understanding of On Point’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) and align project activities with organizational standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education & Certification: Eligible or current registration with ASTTBC as a technologist or EGBC.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in municipal, transportation, or land development engineering.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office. Strong understanding of engineering principles related to municipal, transportation, or land development.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for preparing reports and collaborating with clients and stakeholders.

• Work Ethic: Self-motivated, able to manage competing priorities, and work effectively in a team.

• Professional Growth: Committed to ongoing professional development and certifications.

• Other: Valid BC driver’s license.
